Enjoy your 'indian summer' with some well-deserved me-time!
Late summer – or 'indian summer' as they like to call it in New England – is the short period between summer and autumn during which nature is undeniably at its best. And during which your life, of course, doesn’t stop being busy. How to take full advantage of the Indian summer without messing with your schedule? Discover our three steps for having the best me-time.
Step 1: savour every moment
"Just let me finish this, and then I’ll ...", "Once this deadline is met, I’ll ..." Sounds familiar? Before you know it, autumn makes its appearance and your chances of enjoying a wonderful late summer are over and done with. So allow yourself to savour every moment of it, being mindful about your bike ride to work, your morning walk to the bakery on Sundays, and so on.
Step 2: spoil your body and mind
Summer is over, winter is approaching. Late summer is your final chance to treat yourself and prepare your mind and body for those merciless winter months. Here’s how!
- Indulge in a full day of wellness – at the spa, at home or even in your very own garden. Relaxing in the sauna and soaking in the Jacuzzi or hot tub do wonders for the skin – and the mind.
- Try to eat healthy and balanced meals. Warm summer evenings and eating ice cream may go hand in hand, but now is the time to start paying attention to your health again.
- Adopt a regular sleep routine and get up at the same time every morning. This habit will help you sleep better and feel rested – despite the days getting shorter.
Step 3: immerse yourself completely in the 'indian summer'
Finally, head outside and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature. Take your time to gaze at the beautiful colour palette the forests offer at this time of the year, or take a trip down the coast to catch a breath of the wonderful sea air. Not in the mood for travel? Your very own garden can be just as gorgeous to watch!
